Useful Phrases

Nice What???

July 10, 2005

Word of the day:
BAR = bar
BANK = bank
(I got these two pretty quick.)

The big pour had everyone nervous. The earlier two pours took all day to complete and the equipment kept breaking down, most of it due to lack of understanding. When you are doing a big pour that must be continuous, the operators panic and look past the simple fixes. Other than the rain/wind/snow and cold all was fine. We started at 8:30 and completed it at noon. Remember we only have two redi-mix trucks and they were pouring ¾ mile from our site driving over rough terrain. The guys did pretty well.

Tomorrow we’re changing the batch plant computer that keeps locking up, hoping this takes care of the last few issues with the plant.

We spent the afternoon teaching the Russians some American phrases we thought might be useful to them if they get to America. For example: “Will you still respect me?” ,“Nice buns!” and some other ones I don’t feel comfortable putting on here. In turn they taught us similar phrases. A lot of joking and stories were also told - it was a nice cold afternoon.

The flu bug is running thru the camp. Three people in my tent and 2 at the batch plant have it. I woke up this morning with the sore throat, so I’ll keep you informed.

Sorry if these are boring but it’s the same place just a different month. There is a bus going on a fishing trip in the next several days and I think I’ll hop a ride.
