Word of the Day: Suken Sem

Stash, Demetri, Natasha and Demis

July 9, 2005

Hi honey, did you get some sleep?

Word of the day - Suken Sem = S.O.B.

Wow what a weather change. Yesterday we had freezing rain; today 50 degrees and a constant 25 -30 mph wind and gusting even higher. As I walked on the mill site, I had a 15 degree lean into the wind. Some of the people were wearing goggles to work there. (I think they have been here before…)

Tomorrow we have a 65 cubic meter pour or approximately 100 yards; a good size job. But I’ve been having problems with the batch computer locking up. Cross your fingers it holds together long enough to get thru this project. I have a spare but it needs to be programmed and that may take a full day.

As I promised Beth yesterday, pictures of the batch plant crew are included. Luda is the wife of Alex the translator. She is also a translator and teaches English in a technical school. Ernie is the electrician for Oricon at the mill site. (He has been married and divorced more times than I have) Stash was one of the original guys that started with me and Demetri is new, but a very good operator. (one you would like to clone) His wife is a translator in the truck garage. Demis is young, but a good worker and Dennis, who is not shown, is an excellent worker and the comedian of the bunch. If all goes well, I would like Demetri to be the leader of the group.

I’ll let you know how the big pour goes tomorrow.

Terry
