Russian Tanks....
Tank Construction
July 6, 2005
Busy day today, but it went fast.
Took pictures, but the most interesting ones are of the tank construction. The tanks are shipped rolled up around the stair case. When they stand the complete assembly on end, (40 tons) they start to weld one edge of the tank to the parameter of the steel tank bottom.
Then they connect a bulldozer to it and start unrolling the tank. They place the top/roof on as they go and spot-weld the base to stabilize the complete structure. In one day (a full 24 hrs) they can have the assembly in place and in another week the welding completed. It was fascinating to watch.
Pictures of our pet and what the tundra looks like today.
That’s it.
